GREASE is the word as Bradford Alhambra hosts a professional revival of the popular rock ‘n’ roll musical.

The show stars Tom Parker from pop group The Wanted, Louisa Lytton from EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing, and Danielle Hope who won BBC talent show Over The Rainbow.

Grease opened on Broadway in 1972 and the hit movie followed later that decade starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

It’s the original high-school musical featuring Sandy, Danny, the groovy T Birds, the sassy Pink Ladies and the whole gang at Rydell High.

Songs include You’re The One That I Want, Grease Is The Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Sandy and Greased Lightnin’.

A spokesman said: “Grease is the ultimate feelgood, pick-me-up musical - an electrifying extravaganza, packed with fun, energy and vibrant physicality.

“Grease has proved that a musical love story, bursting with denim, cheerleaders, slick hairstyles, rock ’n’ roll, 1950’s pop culture and an irresistible mix of teenage angst and young romance is timeless and universal.”

The current award-winning production originally opened in the West End in 1993 where it enjoyed a six-year run, going on to tour throughout the world playing to sell-out audiences. In the UK alone it has been seen by more than 12 million people.

Grease will be performed from October 9 to 14.
