THE Full Monty movie cost about £3 million to make and earned more than £160m at the box office, making it is one of the highest-grossing British films.

But Keighley screenwriter Simon Beaufoy reportedly got no royalties for his story. Now Simon should do better with the stage version of The Full Monty.

He said: “People approached me to do a stage version for years but I don’t own the rights. It was turned into a musical I had nothing to do with – didn’t want anything to do with – because they set it in America.

“This was a lovely chance to have another go at putting it on stage, the right way.”

The touring show comes to the Alhambra next month. The cast includes Gary Lucy, winner of Dancing on Ice, as Gaz.

The production also features the songs from the film by Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.

The show runs from February 9 to 14, starting at 7.30pm. For tickets ring 01274 432000.
