ENOCH Powell visited the General Hospital in Otley in 1963 when he was health minister. Among those pictured with Mr Powell are the hospital’s matron V Cliffe, and consultant surgeon T S Matheson.
Mr Powell was a politician, classical scholar, author, linguist, soldier, and poet - but he is perhaps best remembered for his “Rivers of Blood” speech.
