WONDERFUL photographic portraits stretching back more than 130 years give us glimpses into lives of people now long gone.

These images form part of an extensive collection in the Aireborough Historical Society online archive.

The oldest picture on this page (top right) dates back to 1898 and shows the Beveridge Family in Rawdon - William, Annie, Nellie and Ray.

An undated picture taken in Yeadon shows Mr and Mrs Hardy and their six children. It was donated to AHS by Sam Kilburn.

The Hudson family are shown with a pony and trap in Yeadon in about 1911. The child on the right is Samuel Hudson, the boy second left is William Hudson who went on to serve Aireborough as a councillor for many years. The picture was donated by Bill Hudson

Another man who gave many years of public service is William M E Ackroyd, who can be seen wearing his chain of office. Born in Bradford in 1847, he took up residence at Ashdown, Apperley Bridge. Among his many public roles he was Mayor of Bradford in 1899.
