Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services - Places Directorate of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Tyldesley No. 148,149 &150) (Temporary Closure] Order 2022.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from using the following footpaths:
* Tyldesley No.148 from Point A at its junction with Garrett Lane as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370744 401521, north to Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 149 & 150 as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370792 401825 for a distance of approximately 330 metres.

* Tyldesley No. 149 from Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 148 & 150 as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370792 401825 north to Point C as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370785 401874 for a distance of approximately 54 metres.

* Tyldesley No. 150 from Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 148 & 149 as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370792 401825 east to Point D at its junction with Sale Lane as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371250 401821 for a distance of approximately 456 metres.

For a period of 6 months commencing on 4th February 2022. The Order is necessary to enable development to take place.
St Helens Road, Leigh - Prohibition of Waiting Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 1,2,3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Leigh Roads) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.127) Order 2022 which will come into operation on 3rd February 2022.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on: -
* St Helens Road, Leigh (North west side) from a point 50 metres south west of Atherleigh Way to a point 45 metres south west of its junction with Aspull Common.

* St Helens Road, Leigh (South east side) from a point 50 metres south west of Atherleigh Way to a point 37 metres south west of its junction with Aspull Common.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by post, or by emailing

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground -
(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004; or

(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 20th January 2022 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Wigan Borough (Footpath Leigh No.181 (Part)) Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Footpath Leigh No.181 (Part) (Temporary Footpath Diversion) Order 2022. No person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, use public footpath Leigh No 181 (part) from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365001 399177 at the junction with public bridleway Leigh No. 322 to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365031 399119 for a distance of approximately 65 metres in a generally south easterly direction to the junction with Wateredge Close. An alternative route is available: From Point A go north easterly along public bridleway Leigh No. 322 to the junction with St Helens Road at Point C on the Order Map at grid reference 365393 399342 for approximately 425 metres, then go south on the pavement of St Helens Road to Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365390 399289 for approximately 50 metres, then head south westerly following the pavement of Lightburne Avenue and footway to Parkedge Close. Continue in a south westerly direction on the pavement of Parkedge Close to Point B for a distance of approximately 430 metres.
This Order will be effective for a period of 4 weeks commencing on 10th January 2022, to safeguard the public whilst improvement works are carried out to the public rights of way network.
Wigan Borough (Bridleway Leigh No.155 (Part) Temporary Bridleway Diversion Order) 2022 Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Bridleway Leigh No.155) (Part) (Temporary Bridleway Diversion) Order 2022.
The effect of the Order will be that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, use public bridleway Leigh No 155 (part) from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364661 399192 at the junction with public footpath Leigh No. 162 to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364612 398891 for a distance of approximately 306 metres in a generally southerly direction to the junction with the access road to Pennington Country Park.
An alternative route is available: From Point A go easterly along public footpath Leigh No. 162 to Point C on the Order Map at grid reference 364830 399147 for approximately 180 metres, then go southeast to Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 364877 399085 for approximately 80 metres, then head south westerly following public bridleway Leigh No. 322 before heading west under the Atherleigh Way to the access road to Pennington Country Park a distance of approximately 370 metres, once on the road head north west to Point B for a distance of approximately 36 metres.
This Order will be effective for a period of 4 months commencing on 10th January 2022, to safeguard the public whilst improvement works are carried out to the public rights of way network. Dated this 27th day of January 2022
