BUSINESSES in the Worth Valley and South Craven are being given the chance to learn more about how they can capitalise on this spring's Tour de Yorkshire.

Roadshows are being staged across the region to outline potential benefits from the event, between May 1-3.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on Yorkshire to see the international race, being held in the wake of last year's massively successful Tour de France Grand Depart.

The third leg of the Yorkshire event includes Oxenhope, Haworth, Oakworth, Goose Eye, Sutton, Cross Hills, Kildwick and Silsden.

Gary Verity – chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, which is organising the roadshows in conjunction with local authorities – said: "We saw a huge appetite for all things Yorkshire last year when we hosted the Grand Depart and this new race will bring back some of the world's best teams.

"This means spectators from far and wide will be here and we'll have the most fantastic advert our county can wish for – global television coverage.

"The roadshows will help businesses prepare in the run-up to the event, on race days themselves and of course long into the future as we establish Yorkshire as Europe's number one cycling destination."
