Otley Town 3, Ripon City 0
A good crowd watched on another fine day as Otley Town and Ripon City battled to gain control of midfield in this West Yorkshire Association League Premier Division contest.
Both teams were playing open football, and Otley’s wide open spaces suited the hosts and the visitors but Town started to gain more of the ball.
Ben Greenhow was making more and more runs into the visitors’ box, and both Paul Harrison and Danny Chadwick were getting behind Ripon.
But Otley still had to be alert when a cross from the right led to the Ripon forward putting a great header just over the bar.
On the half-hour, Town took the lead when a foul just outside the box on the left gave them a free-kick and a perfectly-flighted ball from Sam Dexter led to James Davey rising at the far post unmarked to head home.
After the break, Town had a couple of chances to improve the score but were unlucky with Cater and Chadwick going close.
However, they went 2-0 up when they were awared a free-kick 45 yards out, left back Chadwick seeing the Ripon keeper off his line and brilliantly chipping him.
Super sub Fred Ash secured the points with three minutes left.
On Saturday, Town are in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup action at FC Headingley (1.00).
