Adrian Towers is convinced that Guiseley’s confidence hasn’t been dented by last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Bishop’s Stortford.
The Lions’ joint club secretary said: “The experienced lads in the team were dis-appointed by the result but not by the performance.
“It was summed up by a Jamie Clarke shot that hit the inside of one post and rolled across the goal-line, hit the far post and came out.”
The setback put paid to Guiseley’s hopes of catching leaders Hyde and meant that their only hope of going up is via the play-offs.
Towers added: “Bishop’s Stortford have done the double over us but they are unrecognisable now under Rod Stringer, who got Braintree Town up last season, from the team that beat us earlier in the season.
“He has good contacts with Tottenham and their loan keeper Jordan Archer was superb.
“Two of the saves he made would not have looked out of place in the Premier League, and their four, five and six were excellent too, including Ali Abdullah, who is on loan from Leyton Orient.
“We had 976 fans there and, although it was subdued at times, none of them will have gone away dis-appointed with our display.
Guiseley are expected to rotate their squad at Boston United on Saturday ahead of their play-off semi-final first leg, which is away next Wednesday, prior to the home leg a week on Sunday.
