GUISELEY manager Sean St Ledger is looking ahead to next season's challenge in the National League North and he feels that he has already identified a few promotion rivals.

He said: "Obviously there's Harrogate who have come very close to winning the league.

"Then there's Kidderminster. I actually went to watch them not too long ago and they play some excellent football so you'd probably have to say that they are the two stand outs.

"But I just think that next season, in general, the Conference North will probably be stronger than it ever has been."

St Ledger is still uncertain about his exact role at Guiseley next year but he has plenty to keep him busy over the summer break.

He said: "I'm going to have a bit of time to reflect on what's happened this season and what direction I want to go in.

"But I'm about to start my UEFA A Licence in Ireland next month and then I'll see what I want to do after that."

With relegation inevitable, St Ledger set his side a secondary target of not finishing bottom. A thrilling 4-3 win at Torquay on Tuesday night, aided by a Rowan Liburd double, has given them a chance of achieving that feat on the final day.

An away win over Boreham Wood on Saturday could see them overtake Chester, who take on relegation-threatened Barrow.

Reflecting on Tuesday's game, St Ledger said: "The reins have come off a little bit and I think that we're trying to play a bit more now and express ourselves.

"We have scored a number of goals as of late which is good but we're also conceding them which is less pleasing. We're certainly entertaining at the moment!"

He explained: "When we played Dagenham (a 5-3 defeat) the pitch had water on it and it was greasy. Last night was the same. It's a lot easier for the players to get the ball down and pass.

"Whereas on Saturday in the 2-1 defeat to Woking, the pitch was very dry and the ball was difficult to control. When we've played on a good pitch though, we've been able to pass it."
