Guiseley goalkeeper Jonny Maxted has signed for Accrington Stanley for an undisclosed fee.

The League Two side were impressed with the 25-year-old when he helped the Lions knock them out of the first round of the FA Cup.

Maxted, who made a string of fine saves including two in the penalty shoot-out, has signed an 18-month contract with The Milk Boys.

Maxted has played 59 games for Guiseley since joininf them initially on a three-month loan from Forest Green Rovers at the start of September 2016.

The deal was made permanent in January 2017.

The former Doncaster Rovers stopper is the nephew of one of Guiseley’s 1991 FA Vase heroes, goalkeeper Paul Maxted.

At Doncaster Jonny made it to the first team subs bench at the age of 16 and gained experience in loan spells at Goole and Gainsborough Trinity.

After leaving Doncaster he spent some time at Hartlepool before joining Forest Green at the start of the 2015-16 season.
