Dynamo are down on power after break
10:27am Thursday 26th January 2012 in General
Thornhill Lees 5 Ilkley Dynamo 1
Dynamo’s return to action after seven weeks proved disappointing as they crashed out of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup .
The festive break and inclement weather combined to keep them on the sidelines and the long lay off clearly affected their performance.
This was always going to be a tough test as Thornhill Lees had won this Trophy twice previously, in 1984 and 2008, but the early signs were encouraging.
The Dynamo captain, Michael Bloom headed a fine goal to put the visitors ahead early in the game, before having to be withdrawn through injury.
Within 15 minutes Scott Hargreaves had equalised for Thornhill through a deflected shot after a hotly-disputed free kick was awarded on the edge of the penalty area.
This seemed to change the game as, in blustery conditions, Dynamo began to lose control and gave a sluggish dis-jointed performance against a hard-working, experienced and well-organised Thornhill team.
Some poor errors from the visitors, aided by the conditions, allowed the home team to add three further goals through Lee Brook (2) and Ross Ingham before Dynamo could find any sort of rhythm.
Darren Munday battled hard for Dynamo and Thornhill had difficulty handling the incisive pace of Danny Bryan, who gave an outstanding performance.
Dynamo eventually produced some fluent football as play swept up and down the field like the wind.
Dave Smith, the Thornhill goalkeeper made some excellent saves as Dynamo found their form too late in the day.
Tristan Cost added a fifth for the home side from a breakaway as the visitors continually pushed forward for some late reward Dynamo entertain Shipley Halfway House in round two of the Wharfedale Triangle League Cup on Sunday.
