Leeds City 1 Pool 2

POOL followed up their win over table-topping Carlton Athletic by defeating the Premier Division's second-placed team.

The two evenly-matched teams produced a high-quality encounter in the warm conditions.

Leeds always looked dangerous from set pieces, and it was a corner that resulted in them taking the lead, a header at the far post looping over all, and going just inside the near post.

They could easily have doubled their lead within minutes, but a superb save from keeper Andy Doey at his near post kept them out.

Pool came out fighting in the second half, creating several chances, and levelled the scores when sheer determination from the hard-working Grant Bligh resulted in a cross which Nick Hewitt met in the centre of the goal to head past the stranded keeper.

Leeds were still looking dangerous on the break, often taking route one, but the Pool defence remained solid, and they scored the goal that their efforts deserved late in the game.

Bligh found space to fire his shot under the advancing keeper.

Pool continue to produce the goods despite losing players to injury,.

Striker Matthew Bilney dislocated his shoulder for the second time this season, and Josh Waite, having produced an excellent performance, suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem.
