Ivan is one of The Wharfedale Strollers’paradoxes. Despite his Welsh name he honed his soccer in Scotland and his talents are as diverse as Nicola Sturgeon’s demands.
His ball skills are such that he has (once) been compared to Mahrez but astute observers of his shining pate have labelled him a pocket rocket Jonjo Shelvey.
However, it is not just the twinkling feet and bewildering step overs that make Ivan such a formidable provider but it is his fluorescent green football boots that hypnotise defenders.
He strenuously denies being sponsored by Mike Ashley but the gleaming Jaguar car and personalised number plate seem to support that rumour.
If true, then Ashley has backed a winner because the number of “assists” created by Ivan’s skills have truly elevated him from Ivan the terrible to Ivan the Great
