Field 2 Ilkley Town 2

LEE Spires 13th goal of the season enabled Ilkley Town to secure a well-earned point in the dying moments of the West Yorkshire League Premier Division match.

Field enjoyed a lot of early possession but Ilkley soaked up the pressure before taking the lead.

A mistake from one of the Field defenders was gobbled up by striker Toby Harris in the 20th minute as he netted his third goal of the season.

It could have been 2-0 four minutes later, Lee Spires unleashed a curling effort that was saved by the Field goalkeeper.

Field forced a superb save from James Hirst and saw a header go just over the bar.

Ilkley had a chance to increase the lead. Joe Garside's cross skimmed the head of Danny Bott before reaching Dave Hancock who couldn't find the target.

Down at the other end there was almighty scare. A free kick from the left was headed in by a Field attacker but the referee ruled it out for a foul.

Field were the stronger of the two teams at the start of the second half. Hirst was immediately tested by a curling effort which he did well tip over the bar.

Ilkley almost went 2-0 up after 53 minutes when Adam Davey headed Danny Bott's free kick just wide.

Field's pressure paid off when a cross found striker Glyn Hirst who superbly side footed it past Hirst.

Ilkley had a great chance to restore their lead after 64 minutes but Darren Munday somehow put the ball over from two yards.

Field went close when a shot thundered against the crossbar before they finally went ahead eight minutes from time from a penalty.

Ilkley didn't give up and were rewarded when Spires struck.

Ilkley will be at home to Craven League side Grassington United in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.
