Ilkley Town 4 Horbury Town 2

ILKLEY picked up an important West Yorkshire League Premier Division win against Horbury Town at Ben Rhydding.

After a steady start they took the lead after half an hour with a well-worked goal.

James Turland made an overlapping run into the penalty area and cut the ball back across goal for Matt Tolleson, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.

Town doubled their lead before half-time when a through ball from Iain Blackburn, found Jack Murray who comfortably finished with his right foot.

The second half began with Horbury replying with a well-taken goal.

Ilkley then weathered some pressure from the visitors and they were indebted to Dave Hancock for a 70th minute block on the line which denied the visitors a certain goal.

Ilkley gave themselves a little breathing space when some fantastic one on one play from Blackburn led to him picking out Tolleson, who finished well again from close range.

A fourth goal soon followed when substitute Danny Henderson netted with his first touch from a defence-splitting pass from captain Danny Bott .

There was still time for Horbury to get a second however the final whistle soon followed giving the home team all three points.

Aidan Mower was man of the match for Town who now travel to Tadcaster Magnets next week to play in the first round of the West Riding Challenge Cup.
