Ilkley Dynamo 0 Keighley Athletic 4
CHAMPIONS Dynamo were ring rusty after their four-week lay off as Keighley Athletic avenged their defeat in last season's League Cup final.
The pitch was only declared fit shortly before the game which was a relief after the problems caused by the recent frost and snow.
Dynamo started the game with some early pressure and the visitors were indebted to goalkeeper Damien Mellor, who made a couple of outstanding early saves.
Dynamo started giving the ball away with monotonous regularity as they were constantly outmanoeuvred in midfield. Keighley were more cohesive as a unit with Ryan Stubbs causing problems with his strength and hold up play. His low drive put the visitors 1-0 ahead just before the break.
Apart from a succession of corners, Dynamo had difficulty in carving out any real opportunities. There was a desperate lack of thrust as the home side continually struggled against a Keighley's high-energy performance.
Stubbs added a second goal for the visitors and apart from some sporadic counter attacking, Dynamo made little impact as Keighley dominated.
They tackled well, moved the ball quickly and added two further late goals to inflict a resounding defeat on a Dynamo team that was second best for large parts of the game. This week Dynamo entertain Yeadon Veterans in a re-arranged Wharfedale & District Sunday Cup quarter final replay.
