Feathers 1 Ilkley Dynamo 5

IN-FORM Dynamo eased comfortably through to the third round of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup after a comprehensive victory at Halifax.

The home team, who play in the Premier Division of the Halifax League, struggled against the powerful Dynamo squad.

The visitors started well and Phil Thommesen opened the scoring early on, from close range, after some impressive teamwork.

Regular rapid changes of pace from Danny Bryan and Danny Kenna who both worked hard in midfield, gave Dynamo an inspirational quality as they began to dominate the game.

Relentless pressure, lightening breaks and a tight defence, which was well marshalled by Sam Jacomb and Michael Bloom, ensured Dynamo had complete control.

The tenacious Thommesen added two further goals for a well earned hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 16 as Dynamo went 3-0 ahead.

Although Feathers created limited sporadic efforts they did manage to pull a goal back before Tom Higman hit a powerful drive to make it 4-1.

Dynamo continued to surge forward at will and a number of good opportunities were squandered, including a missed penalty effort, as the pace and skill of the whole team was always evident.

An excellent captain’s performance from the fleet-footed Craig Bentham was crowned when he added the fifth goal for Dynamo to make the final score 5-1.

The third round is scheduled for December 7 and Dynamo will be at home to another Halifax side, Hens Face.
