Pool Veterans 1 Ilkley Dynamo 3
DYNAMO advanced to the second round of the Wharfedale District FA Sunday Cup after a competitive match at Pool.
Early in the game the visitors tormented their hosts relentlessly and put them under heavy pressure.
Some intricate midfield work, particularly from Danny Kenna, ensured Dynamo remained in control. Dynamo were awarded a penalty, coolly converted yet again by Danny Bryan to put them 1-0 ahead.
Despite both sides looking vulnerable in defence it wasn't capitalised on as the finishing was wayward.
However, another fine performance from Ross Wilson was rewarded, after some classy movement and passing by the visitors, when he put them 2-0 in front with a powerfully-struck goal.
A spirited Pool side continued to work exceptionally hard against the Wharfedale Triangle League champions and they were encouraged when Matt Healey reduced the arrears to 2-1 thanks to a battling collective team effort.
Despite continuing to look lively and inventive going forward Dynamo did not appear as compact without the ball.
Late in the game, another mazy run fromWilson resulted in him scoring again for the visitors to give them a two-goal cushion at 3-1.
Chris Holmes produced some fine work for Dynamo while David Thompson impressed for Pool.
