Cottingley 1 Ilkley Dynamo 6
DYNAMO began their defence of the League Cup with a comprehensive first-round victory at Cottingley.
The visitors started at a high tempo and went ahead on the half-hour mark.
Some fine creative work on the left by Ben Cater resulted in a pinpoint cross for the impressive Danny Bryan to stroke home.
The whole team were playing attractive football before Ross Wilson, who was constantly terrorising the Cottingley back four, made it 2-0 just before the interval.
Bryan added his second to make it 3-0 and some clever prompting from Craig Bentham, who demonstrated his strength in winning possession, coupled with the weaving trickery of Danny Kenna ensured Dynamo remained in control of the midfield area.
Dynamo ran rampant after the break with a thunderbolt from Phil Thommesen making it four before Cottingley pulled a goal back through Gary Lofthouse.
Another powerful defensive display from Sam Jacomb also helped the cause as Dynamo made it back-to-back victories, with Ben Cater and Thommesen adding two further late goals.
