Ilkley Dynamo 7 Cottingley 0

This second round tie was switched to Ilkley at the last minute due to a waterlogged pitch at Shipley and deadly Dynamo took full advantage.

They made an early impression on the game and drove forward at regular intervals only to be thwarted by a resolute Cottingley rearguard.

It took a thumping shot on target by Luke Hudson, who drove the ball with power and pace, to put Dynamo them 1-0 ahead after half an hour.

Dynamo continued to attack with imagination as their fluent football ensured a gradual domination of the game.

Both full backs, Dom Grimes and Ben Cater gave excellent contributions to a solid team performance and the Dynamo goalkeeper, Rob Powell, commanded his area well.

An impressive second half showing, with Dynamo playing with zest and determination, ensured the constant creativity was converted into goals.

Outstanding performances by the midfielders Craig Bentham and Danny Bryan resulted in them both scoring individual goals to put Dynamo 3-0 ahead.

Ollie Blair and Danny Bott also helped Dynamo to continually deconstruct the visitors’ defence before a Cottingley own goal made it 4-0.

The momentum continued as the Dynamo team pushed forward and the ever-alert Chris Holmes showed his agility by scoring three well-worked goals, within a 12-minute spell, to give him as well deserved hat-trick and make the final score 7-0.
