Ilkley Dynamo produced an impressive performance to lift this season’s Wharfedale & District FA Sunday Cup.

They beat the Wharfedale Triangle’s Premier Division champions Yeadon Veterans 3-0 on Sunday.

And it completed a great cup double for Ilkley coming just six days after Ilkley Town won the Wharfedale FA Cup by beating Otley Rovers 4-0.

Many of the Dynamo players featured in both triumphs and it was fitting that the cup was lifted by Michael Bloom, brother of ilkley Town’s victorious captain Andy.

Dynamo manager Shaun Bishop was in no doubt where the credit for the victory should go.

He believes the tactics devised by former Bradford City and Guiseley striker Danny Forrest, were crucial.

He said: “We had played them twice in the league the previous week losing 6-2 and drawing 6-6, but like them we didn’t show our hand until the final.

“Danny’s tactics were spot on and the players did exactly what we wanted.

“This is a great victory for the club and it will mean so much for people like our secretary David Knaggs who has been with the club for many years.

“This was only the this time we have won the trophy and it was ironic that the final was being played on Otley Town’s ground where we had lost a final exactly 30 years ago.”

He added: “I am absolutely thrilled for the players because they have worked so hard this season.

“Perhaps on reflection we could have done a bit better in the league, but this is a great reward.

“I am delighted for Ilkley too. It is great to now have two cup winners.”
