Ilkley Dynamo 4 Clifton Rangers 7

DYNAMO lost an entertaining West Riding County Sunday Cup Tie after hauling themselves back into contention.

Benji Claydon opened the scoring for Dynamo with his sixth goal of the season, a superb individual effort.

Within five minutes he had also hit a post as the home side dominated early possession.

The tables turned as Clifton plundered two quick goals thanks to a catalogue of errors by the home side.

However, Dynamo were awarded a penalty and Henry Barrow made no mistake with a fine finish before Lee McGowan made it 3-3 after a battling solo effort. Struan Connor gave another outstanding performance in midfield and David Freer, the Dynamo Keeper, made some heroic saves to keep matters level.

Both teams were aware that there would be no extra-time, the match would go straight to penalties after 90 minutes.

Clifton added two more goals before Barrow added his second to keep the game alive at 5-4.

Each team employed direct tactics as the game moved from end to end in an effort for one side to grab a late victory before Clifton, from the Huddersfield League, sealed the tie with two late goals.
