STEETON and Salts have booked their places in the last eight of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

Salts made home advantage count to beat Horbury Town 2-1, with Luke Lavery's first-half goal setting Salts on their way.

The visitors equalised through James Mountain early in the second half but the result was secured when substitute Ryan Whitfield netted Salts' second with 12 minutes left.

Two goals in a ten-minute spell midway through the first half – from Graham Holmes and Ben Richardson - helped Steeton to a 4-1 victory at Littletown over their Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division rivals.

Joe Jagger reduced the arrears before late strikes from Michael Rhodes and Oliver Hunter gave Steeton victory.

Campion travelled to West Yorkshire League leaders Carlton Athletic, who had won all 14 games in their Premier Division.

Carlton showed why they are unbeaten as they built up a 3-0 advantage midway through the second half until Campion introduced substitute Chris Graham.

He netted two quick goals to leave the home side hanging on as Campion pressed for an equaliser before Carlton broke away to secure a 4-2 victory.

Lower Hopton were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Sherburn White Rose before losing out 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out.

Steeton Reserves are flying the flag for the County Amateurs in the fifth round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

Goals from Andy Howland (2), Will Knight, Olly Whitham and Brannon Lawn gave them a 5-1 home victory over Wakefield League side Halton Moor.

Both Thornton United's teams were beaten, with the first team losing 5-4 at Wortley after missing a second-half penalty.

The reserves went down 3-0 at Normanton-based Junction FC, while Golcar United Reserves drew 1-1 at Huddersfield Amateurs before losing 5-4 on spot-kicks.

Huddersfield YMCA, last season's Taylor's Timber Premier Division Champions, slipped to their heaviest defeat since losing 8-0 at Ovenden West Riding in 2014-15 when they went down 7-3 at local rivals Lepton Highlanders.

Gary Bradley led the way with two goals, being supported by Chris Gillespie, Nick Robinson, Mark Godley, Oliver Ghee and Jonathon Bullivant, with Connor Tuft (2) and Carl Aitkin replying.

Golcar United went top after beating bottom-placed Overthorpe Sports Club 5-2.

There were goals galore in Division One (33 in five matches) as the top sides battle for one of the four promotion places into the Premier Division, which will have a minimum of 16 teams playing at Step Seven of the National League System.

Route One Rovers, elected to step up from Division Two before the start of the season, did their chances no harm by moving into third behind joint leaders Holmfirth Town and Britannia Sports after a 4-3 home victory over Wakefield City.

Wibsey, who finished third from the bottom last season, are fourth after winning 6-2 at Ventus Yeadon Celtic, Daniel O'Donnell taking his total of goals for the season to 29 with a hat-trick.

West Horton were also among the goals, with Lee Smith bagging a treble in their 7-1 home win over Westbrook YMCA.
