Shipley Town 2 Ilkley Dynamo 3

DYNAMO took their recent unbeaten run to nine games after a 3-2 away victory in their final Wharfedale Triangle Premier Division game of the season.

An evenly-contested midweek match against Bingley had produced a competitive 3-3 draw, so Dynamo were looking to finish their league programme with a morale-boosting victory.

A scrappy battle produced a sporadic first half as Dynamo stroked the ball around in midfield without creating any real breakthrough.

Shipley worked hard and eventually gained the lead, against the run of play, through Gary Tomlinson. However, the visitors continued to dictate proceedings in midfield and a good number of opportunities were created before Tom Higman hit a thumping 25-yard volley to bring Dynamo level.

Both Ben Cater and Ross Wilson performed well as Dynamo took control. A thunderous shot from Danny Henderson, a striker in a rich vein of form, put Dynamo 2-1 ahead after some incisive movement from Craig Bentham.

A defensive mix up was punished when Matt Keen scored for Shipley to make it 2-2.

Late pressure by Dynamo resulted in Luke Hudson going close on three occasions before leading marksman Phil Thommesen, making good use of the flanks, produced a crucial strike in the 80th minute to ensure a notable victory.

Dynamo will round off their season with the League Cup final against Keighley Town at Thackley on Sunday, May 10.
