Ilkley Dynamo 7 Idle United 3

Dynamo maintained their two-point lead in the Wharfedale Triangle Premier Division with another comprehensive win.

The teams had met in a cup competition earlier in the season with the home side triumphing 1-0, but this time the gap between the sides was accentuated by Dynamo’s slick play.

After an early goal by Danny Henderson, Dynamo maintained concerted pressure against a side that tries to offer stern resistance.

Both Ollie Blair and Simon Walker battled hard for Ilkley side but the score remained unchanged until Tom Higman controlled the ball, turned and volleyed into the top corner to make it 2-0 at the interval.

Dynamo constructed some impressive passing triangles before Danny Bryan added a spectacular third goal after a fine solo.

Chris White pulled a goal back for Idle who continued to work hard and had their best spell of the game.

The impressive Higman made another valuable contribution for the home side with his second goal, a powerful effort from close range.

Another two goals from the threatening Henderson gave him his much-deserved hat trick and this put Dynamo 6-1 ahead.

Although Andy Land and Lee Mathers both found the net with two late goals for the visitors, another quick attack resulted in Phil Thommesen hitting the seventh and final goal.

This week Dynamo entertain Milford in the semi-final of the Wharfedale & District Sunday Cup which is sponsored by Machells of Guiseley.
