Skyrac sprinters collect medals
Skyrac Athletic Club travelled the short journey to Thornes Park, Wakefield, last Sunday to support the Wakefield Harriers Track and Field Open Meeting.
On a very cold and wet afternoon the five Skyrac sprinters collected a total of nine medals.
Leading the Skyrac team was Jamal Chisholm who claimed a sprints double collecting two gold medals in winning the U-17 men's 100m and 200m. Jamal's time in the 100m was a very fast 11.7 secs, which is an English Schools qualifying time, and his 200m time was 23.1 secs.
Jamal's time in the 100m sets a new Skyrac Athletic Club record. His training partner Ben Holmes collected the silver medal in the 100m with a time of 12.1 sec and then also collected silver in the 200m with a time of 23.7 secs.
Training partner Oliver Clemo, who attends Leeds Grammar School, collected bronze in the U-17 men's 400m. His time of 52.9 secs is a personal best and sets a new Skyrac club record.

Skyrac fellrunners
Races over the North York Moors can be a bit of the same old thing but the 12 mile Gisborough Moors Race does have the attraction of running past the impressive monument erected in 1827 on Easby Moor in honour of Captain James Cook. There is also a short sharp climb up the well known Roseberry Topping.
Normally the race is a bit of a benefit for host club North York Moors AC, who seem to make up most of the runners, but a quartet from Skyrac did venture north last Sunday leaving the teeming rain of Guiseley for a delightful blue sky.
Race winner was Charles Stead (Northumberland Fell Runners) and the first back for Skyrac was Martin Farrar in 1.44.53 with Robert Pritchard a couple of minutes behind. Graham Breeze was 61st in 1.50.09 but Duncan Asquith limped home with calf problems.
There was of course another race on last Sunday some 200 miles to the south where in the London Marathon Alan Bye finished 4774th male in 3:33:54, Elizabeth Grayson 1334th female in 3:52:57, Debbie Bland 1,335th in 3.52.57 and Claire Jones 8,695th in 5.33.28
Otley Athletic Club
There were three Otley AC members amongst the 34,000 finishers in Sunday's Flora London Marathon.
Club coach and now a much experienced marathon runner, Hugh Pearson, finished 1,975th in 3.11.36.
Tom Hannah benefitted from a well planned marathon training schedule over the winter by finishing 3,785th in 3.27.18.
Andrew Billy' Rayner set a new personal best by some ten minutes finishing 14,127th in 4.24.07.
The Bolton 10km race was also held on Sunday morning and Otley's Howard Jeffrey finished 51st in 39.57.
Last Tuesday at the second weekly Bunny Run Fell Race at Haworth, which was won by Willy Smith (Keighley & Craven) in 15.33, Otley's Bob Baker finished 131st (22.10), Don Buffham 178th (23.48), second claim member Emma Payne 189th (24.30) and Graham Stead 195th (24.54).
This coming weekend there at least three different 10km races on offer locally at either Langdale, Rothwell or Bradford.
Members are reminded that they should contact Julian at the club during the course of the next week in order to pre-register for the Harrogate and District Summer Road Race League which commences on Tuesday, May 6. More information on this mid-week Series at www.otleyac.co.uk
Attention is also now focusing on the Otley Ten Mile Road Race in only eight weeks time on Wednesday, June 11, and entry forms are also available from the club website.
Training is as usual both tonight and Tuesday commencing at 7.15pm from Otley RUFC at Cross Green with a choice of training routes across the countryside now becoming more widely available.
Otley AC Juniors now have training starting at 6.30pm on Wednesday nights at the Otley RUFC rugby pitches next to Stephen Smith's Garden Centre on Pool Road. For further details contact Hugh on 07900 114473.
