Tough challenge for Sian
Competing for the first time at the new Liverpool Aquatic Centre Ilkley swimmer Sian Morgan rose to the occasion and was in no way phased by the stiff opposition which included many of British Swimming's elite swimmers bound for Beijing.
Having qualified for seven events Sian and her coach Andy Pearce elected for her to swim in only three events to help her prepare for the ASA Youth Championships to take place in Sheffield alter this month.
Swimming in the same heat as European record holder Hannah Miley and Common-wealth record holder Rebecca Adlington in the 400m freestyle Sian swam to a time of 4.26.87 to finish in a very creditable 12th place at this senior event.
Her times of 2.08.24 and 2.28.22 in the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley clinched her 26th and 28th places respectively.
