Old Otliensians 20 Aireborough 28
AFTER 22 years of contesting the Aire-Wharfe Cup Aireborough finally got their name on the trophy with a superb win against Old Otliensians in the final at Chaffers Field.

Aireborough went behind to an early try from Otliensians but struck back with a Nathan Smith try and a James Druce try, which he also converted, to give them a 12-10 half-time lead.

Two early second-half penalties from Druce pulled Aireborough away before Matt Osborn scored the try of the match. This was also converted by Druce to open up a 25-13 lead.

Otliensians rallied and came back with a late try before Druce sealed victory with a late penalty, making the final score 28-20 to Aireborough.

The win was not without cost as hooker Nick Jackson was stretchered off with concussion and Graham Turner, who moved into hooker, left the park with a broken nose.

However, it was Aireborough skipper Craig Stanley who lifted the trophy from Skipton Properties representative Greg Marchbank
