THREE Ilkley Harriers produced a rousing performance to set a ladies record for the Ilkley Skyline Fell Challenge.

Jane McCarthy, Kate Archer and Jann Smith clocked a time of 3hrs 5mins for the 22-mile relay run.

McCarthy gave them a good start on the 6.6 mile first leg which took the runners from the Hermit pub at Burley Woodhead to the Mosquito Bomber Memorial at Addingham. She handed over to Archer after covering the stage in 54mins.

Archer took on the challenging nine miles down to Addingham Moorside, across and up Beasley Beacon, Round Hill and on to Ellarcarr Pike, which she covered in 80 minutes.

Smith set off fast for the six miles of the final leg down across Denton Moor, through fields and tracks to Askwith, then over the Stepping Stones at Burley-in-Wharfedale before the final two mile uphill stretch up Moor Lane to The Hermit pub. She completed the stage in 50min.

They finished in under 3hrs 5mins (Leg 1: 54mins, Leg 2: 80mins, Leg 3 50mins).

Tom Adams was in good form for England in the Snowdon International Mountain Race on Saturday.

Adams finished third in 1hr 09min 19sec and was part of the winning England team.

His team-mates Chris Farrell, second in 1:07:48, and Chris Holdsworth, fourth in 1:09:19, ran well in a race won by Italy's David Magnini in 1:06:43.

Steve Turland took part in the two-hour Kong Mini-Mountain Marathon event just outside Macclesfield – his first race since completing the Bob Graham Round last month.

He finished an impressive fourth overall and won the vets category. Steve then ran the BOFRA Cracoe fell race on Sunday with Jack Cummings and Iain Gibbons.

Cummings was second just17 seconds behind Ted Mason. Gibbons (2nd LV45) was ninth and Turland 21st.

Lucy Haines was again on top form when competing in the classic Kentmere Horseshoe Fell Race (19.8 km and 1006m ascent).

Haines finished second lady with a time of 1hr 56min 26sec.

Jamie Hutchinson was 183rd in 2:17:44, followed by Alison Weston (3rd LV50) in 2:21:46, Sarah Edwards in 2:32:52 and Mary Gibbons in 2:42:08.
