FORMER Ryder Cup captain and Ilkley Golf Club member Mark James has officially opened the club’s new purpose-built Swing Studio.
Adjoining the Professional’s Shop, the new dedicated room features an indoor simulator complete with Flight Scope X2. This will enable the professional, Andrew Driver, to provide indoor tuition, as well as being able to custom fit clubs.
It can also be hired, as an individual or in a group of up to four players, to play some of the world’s top courses, courtesy of the simulator.
Speaking about the new facility, Richard Cadman, captain of Ilkley Golf Club, said: “It was an honour for our great friend Mark James to ‘drive in’ to celebrate the opening of the Swing Studio.
“It really is a fantastic addition to the club and is already proving to be extremely popular with both members and visitors.”
Professional Driver has already seen the benefits it can bring to golfers, from beginners to scratch golfers.
“With the help of the new technology I am able to pinpoint and demonstrate potential weaknesses in someone’s swing,” he said.
“It then makes it so much easier to correct a problem when the person can actually see what they are doing wrong and how their swing can be improved, often by making slight adjustments, rather than wholesale changes.”
