THERE were some fine performances from the Ilkley Harriers runners in the final West Yorkshire Cross Country League meeting at Cliffe Castle, Keighley on Sunday.

Leading the way were their juniors with Joshua Marlow winning the under-11 boys race and Bethan Morley leading the field home in the under-15 girls event.

Marlow complete completed the course in 5min 53sec and was well supported by Archie Budding 19th, and Jonathan Archer 14th as Ilkley took the silver medal in the team event.

Morley produced a strong run to claim her victory in 14:27. Her performance was backed up by Poppy Anderson 10th and Bernadette Raven 15th, as Ilkley took the team gold on the day and finished top team in the overall league standings.

The under17 boys also took the overall gold despite finishing second in the final meeting to Keighley & Craven. Euan Brennan led their challenge by claiming second place. Cameron Reilly 9th and Oscar Stapleton 10th, completed the scoring team.

Dominic Coy was second in the under-15 boys race while Nathan Coy came fifth in the under-13s where the boys team came second. Harrison Oddie 18th and Wilbur Summerson 12.20.

Tom Adams led the Harriers challenge in the senior men's race. He came home second behind Don Garbitt from Skyrac. Jack Wood had another good run to take seventh.

Matt Newell made top 20, and Tim Ashelford and Dave Westhead the leading 70.

Sarah Pickering was the first Harrier home in seventh position in the senior ladies followed by Sally Malir in 31st and Lucy Haines in 33rd. Mary Gibbons was also in top 50.
