JACK Wood recorded another impressive win when he competed in the Full Tour of Pendle.

The Ilkley Harriers runners overcame the bitterly cold conditions and snow underfoot to lead the field home in a qualifier for next year's Three Peaks race.

Wood was delighted with his race as was Jane McCarthy who had a great run to finish fourth lady and second vet 40. Other Harriers competing included Paul Carmen, Dick Waddington, Ben Sheppard, Chantell Busby, Iain Gibbons and Steve Weston.

Tom Adams secured another victory for Harriers when he romped home first in the third West Yorkshire Cross Country League race at Spenborough on Sunday.

He completed the course in 30min 51sec and finished 23 seconds ahead of second-placed Matthew Grieve of Pudsey & Bramley.

Other Ilkley runners were: 51 Tim Ashelford 37:01, 93 Mark Iley 40:05, 97 Steve Murray 40:18, 100 Mark Summerson 40:40, 102 Stephen Coy 41:05, 108 Malcolm Pickering 41:57, 113 Robert Budding 42:28, 117 Adrian Bastow 43:00.

Jemima Elgood was again the best of the Harriers women in 12th place with a time of 22:16. Sarah Pickering, 18th in 22:38 and Sally Malir, 46th in 24:35, also achieved top 50 finishes.

Other Ilkley runners were: 70Tracey Watson 27:00, 74 Elizabeth Westhead 27:45, 80 Jane Bryant 28:15, 89 Gaynor Coy 30:05, 92 Petra Busterveld 30:28, 200 Anna Pickering 32:56, 107 Jacqi Weston 33:43.

Also on Sunday the Harriers' junior section organised a Santa run to raise money for the new athletics facilities.

After a week of wintry weather and snow on the higher parts of the moor 133 Santas raced around a one mile fun run/walk or a 3km run taking in the lower tarn and very muddy footpaths below White Wells with the finish at White Wells itself (where mince pies and cakes were served).

The 3k run was won by Matthew Boyle (age 15) in 15:51minutes and the 1k run by Sam Bentham (age 9) in 8:19minutes.

Adam Bennett was 31st/1150 runners at the Stormont, (Belfast) Run in the Dark 10k in a time of 41:20. All the runners wore flashing armbands which made it quite a spectacle
