LUCY Williamson launched a successful weekend for Ilkley Harriers by finishing as the first lady in the Bangor 10k on Saturday.

Williamson, who has just started her studies at Bangor University, returned a time of 41:55.

Jack Wood continued the good work by finishing 13th in the Langdale Horseshoe, the final counter in the

English Fell Running Championships in a fabulous time of 2hrs:12min and Alison Weston was 30th Lady (4LV50) in 3:15:00.

Wood showed no ill effects from his efforts as he came second the following day at the Withins Skyline race where his clubmate Tom Adams won in a new record time of 38:32. Wood was four minutes back in 42:33,

Jack Cummings and Paul Carman were 13th and 15th in 46:42 and 47:13 respectively as Ilkley took the men's team prize. The first female Harrier home was Kate Archer in 53:45 who was sixth in the ladies race.

The second and third Ilkley ladies home were Jann Smith and Mary Gibbons in 58:26 and 59:28 respectively.

Andrew Sheldon took part in the Birchfield Harriers Poppy run at Aldridge Airport Country Park and was 13th in 44:22.

Dave Jepson – in his first race for six years – ran 1:34:31 in the Royal Parks half marathon in London. He was joined by John Woodward 1:48:25 and Dave Ibbotson 1:49:55.

Harriers were also well represented in the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon and there were some fine performances. Helen Waddington knocked 20 minutes off her personal best with a run of 3:52:31. David Howe also had a personal best of 3:27:13 just two weeks after running in the Berlin Marathon.

In the Yorkshire 10 mile race, Jane McCarthy was first Harrier home in 70th position with a time of 65:29.
