JOE Fairburn showed no ill effects from a long-haul flight from Lose Angeles when he won three gold medals at the Junior National Outdoor Championships.
Just 36 hours after stepping off a place, the Prince Henry's Grammar School pupil was making his mark with some stunning performances at the National Sports Centre Lilleshall in Shropshire.
The weekend featured a metric round and an imperial round in which the distances are age related with individual and teams awards on both days.
Fourteen-year-old Fairburn won the metric round on Saturday, and the team gold.
He followed up on the Sunday by taking second place in the metric round, just two points behind the winner, and helping his regional team take gold.
