APRIL proved to be a golden month for Katelyn Entwistle, who won two international events in the space of a week.

The 16-year-old, who trains at Ilkley Karate Club, has had overwhelming success internationally over the past few weeks, winning seven medals including two golds and three silvers medals.

The young black belt, who represents England, won two silver medals in succession in the Swiss International Open.

Entwistle went one better in the Latvian Grand Prix, winning gold in the under-21 kata (set moves) event against strong opposition from the Ukraine and Belarus.

She beat the finalist 5-0 to secure a victory for England. The medals didn't stop there as the up and coming karate star won a silver in the kumite (free fighting) event and another bronze in the 16-18 cadet kata.

Entwistle stuck gold again in the Luxembourg Open, winning the 16-18 kata and bronze in the women's senior kata.

So far 2016 has been an incredible year for the teenager whose achievements get better and better and to make inroads into the ladies senior categories is truly remarkable.
