LITTLE Hermione Roe made a big impression when she competed in London’s Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

The ten-year-old Skipton Swimming Club member, won three gold medals and a silver in the ISA National Swimming Championships.

Hermione, who lives in Addingham and attends Ghyll Royd School at Burley-in-Wharfedale, qualified through the North regional finals at Macclesfield in November.

And she certainly made a splash in the Olympic pool as she won 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle titles, before swimming the anchor leg to help the North to win the 4 x 50m freestyle relay. She was also part of the silver-medal winning 4 x 50m individual medley relay team.

Hermione’s winning time in the 50m breaststroke was an impressive 38.92sec and she is top of the ASA rankings for her age group. It is the sixth fastest time ever swum by a ten-year-old girl in Great Britain.

Victory in the 50m freestyle was secured with a time of 30.91 which means she is second in the ASA rankings.

Hermione, who recently won the 100m breaststroke at the Yorkshire short course championships in Sheffield Ponds Forge Pool, trains six times a week at Skipton, Leeds, Barnoldswick, Ilkley and Harrogate.

Her dream is to compete in another Olympic pool – at Tokyo in 2020.
