THE third running of the Ilkley Cyclo Cross races will take place this Sunday at the Lido.

Support for the event continues to grow and it is anticipated that the numbers competing in all the races will reach record levels.

Organisers from Ilkley Cycling Club expect to see 100+ children contesting the the under-12 categories with three separate races for under-8s, 10s and 12s. Those races start at 11.30am and follow the youths race for under-16 and under-14 riders at 10.30am which is combined with a novice race open to anyone to ride, on a suitable bike.

A prize giving ceremony for these groups will take place before the senior races, which start at 1pm and cover the age groups from 16 to 60.

The afternoon will see some exciting racing with riders contesting for a podium place by racing on a combination of grass, road and muddy tracks through Stubham woods.

The event is a free-to-watch and will provide an entertaining day of racing for supporters and spectators.

Competitors need to enter on the day and signing on will close 15 minutes before each race. Entry fees start at £2 for under 12 riders, rising to £14 for adults.
