ILKLEY Lawn Tennis & Squash Club chairman Richard Bourdon reckons the Aegon Ilkley Trophy will be even better next year.

As the dust has settled on the successful ATP Challenger and ITF Women's Pro Circuit tournaments almost three weeks ago, Bourdon has admitted: "I am thrilled by how it went, and am sure that the members and spectators have been watching the television to see how 'their players' have been doing at Wimbledon.

"But we have had our post-tournament meeting and have come up with 50 or 60 small improvements that we hope will make the Aegon Ilkley Trophy even better next year and hopefully beyond."

The club have a contract to hold the tournament next year and a one-year option for 2017.

Bourdon added: "We have also been delighted at the response of other local clubs in the area who provided volunteers to help the tournament run smoothly and make it so friendly.

"We were also delighted with the crowds, not only over the finals weekend but also over the week and are looking to increase the capacity of the stands for next year.

"In addition, we were pleased at the responses of the players afterwards, and in particular the kind remarks on social media of former Wimbledon ladies' doubles champion Lisa Raymond."
