FOUR talented Ilkley Harriers runners have been selected to represent England under-18s in the International Youth Cup for mountain running.

Jemima Elgood, who won the recent trial at Malham, will be joined in junior women's A team by Lucy Haines, who finished fourth for the event in Smolyan, Bulgaria on June 27.

Riaridh Mon Williams has been named in the junior men's B team and Sarah Pickering will compete for the junior women's B team.

Elgood will be making her international debut after a consistent season of cross country running which saw her place well in the Yorkshire, CAU Inter-Counties and English Schools races.

Haines will be winning her second England vest having previously represented her country in last year's Home Internationals in Ireland.

Mon Williams, who also made his debut in Ireland last year, came fourth in the trial and has been running strongly this year.

Pickering, like Elgood, is making her debut.

She enjoyed an excellent cross country season in which she performed well in the Yorkshire, English National and English Schools championships. She has carried that form on to the fells and is currently lying third in the Fell Running Association under-16 girls championship.
