OTLEY AC had a fantastic weekend turnout, representing the club in numerous events and producing some excellent performances.

Club president Matt Podd kick-started Saturday with a trip to Wales to take part in the Snowdon Marathon and completed the extremely tough course 626th in 4hr 3min 17sec.

The winner was Alun Vaughan from Eryri Harriers in 2:40:10 and the first lady was his team-mate Andrea Rowlands in 03:08:53.

Caron Ralph and Shane Ewen took on the Great Whernside Fell race on the same day. This was a four-mile/1,553ft up and down race.

Shane Ewen was first home for Otley in 57th with a time of 40:22 and Caron Ralph was 146th in 51:48.

The winner was Ben Mounsey of Calder Valley Fell Runners in 30:48 and first last was Victoria Wilkinson with 34:29.

The Bradford City Runs were held on Sunday, with the option to do 5K, 10K or the half marathon, and Otley were well represented.

Three runners from Otley were taking part in the half-marathon, with the winner being club man Frank Beresford in 01:15:39 and the first lady home Rebecca Antcliffe in 01:38:22.

Also for Otley were Tom Potter (second claim) in eighth by clocking 01:27:24 and Ian Broadbent 56th in 01:43:23.

Three Otley runners were also taking part in the 10K event – and first and second were Tom Midgley in 35:25 and Liam Dunne in 35:32.

The first lady was Margaret Beever of Stainland Lions Running Club in 40:58. Also for Otley was Stephen Boddy, who was 330th in 44:56.

The Wistow 10K was also being held on Sunday and again the race was well represented by Otley.

The winner was Nathan Baker of Middlesbrough AC in 33.49. First lady was Nicola Bettis of Selby Striders in 41.20 and first home for Otley was Mark Hall, fifth in 34:59.

Also for Otley were Richard Smith 16th in 37:38 and Howard Jeffrey 55th in 43:15.

Not being confined to just one day of racing, Otley AC runner Sarah Fuller was taking part in the Original Mountain Marathon.

Fuller and Kate Boobyer teamed up again and spent the weekend being blown around the Cheviots in the long score class.

Yet again they performed fantastically and finished first ladies team and 33rd overall out of 144 finishers.

* Two Aire Centre Pacers runners took part in the challenging multi-lap Bradford City Runs half marathon.

Rhona Neilsen finished in 1hr 53min 24sec, with Amanda Connolly clocking 2:05:24 to improve on her time from last year.
