OTLEY Athletic Club's Jamil Parapia put in a strong performance to finish fifth in the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10k in a time of 33min 19sec, with Robin Outtersides 27th in 36:21.

The winner was Nathaniel Williams (31:43) and the first lady was Wetherby's Pauline Munro in 35:34.

Also competing for Otley were: Richard Smith 41st (37:12), Stephen Boddy 606th (46:52), Chris Batley 621st (47.21), Melvin Hoare 939th (49.08), Nicola Lee 914th (49.23), Charlotte Tomlinson 1395th (53:09), Reid Haddow 1313th (53.57) and Emma Jones 3181st (56.15).

Second-claim member Zack Whitehead was ninth in 34:33.

The Bingley Show 10k was won by Frank Beresford in 41min 08sec, and the first woman was Jo Buckley (Bingley Harriers).

At the club's Washburn Valley Relays, Otley A won the team prize, with Tom Midgley recording 18min 23sec, Scott Harrington 22:06 and Liam Dunne 18:16.

Liam arrived at the start line with seconds to spare and battled away with the Wetherby Runners from start to finish.

He extended the smallest of leads at the end of the second leg to ten seconds as he crossed the finish line in a total time of 58:45.

Idle were the first mixed team with Leon Winder (19:19), Sam Clegg (23:59) and Donna Edmondson (21:07) and the first ladies' team were Kirkstall Harriers with the team of Shamiso Sisimayi (21:42), Niamh Jackon (28:16), Emma Ballantyne (20:14).

Otley’s other men's trio finished 14th, with Jeremy Stewart (19:32), Steve Robinson (27:13) and Andy Webster (23:53), while Caron Ralph (24:48), Gemma Harrington (37:26) and Laura Martin (23:24) finished 42nd and seventh ladies' team.

In the Nostell Priory 10K trail race, Tom Potter finished 21st of the 395 finishers in 42min 07sec.

The race was won by Simon Newton of host club Ackworth Road Runners in 36min 48sec, and the first female, in 15th overall, was Hanna Oldroyd (UK Netrunner) in 40:38.

The English Fell Running Championships continued with race four at the Kentmere Horseshoe in the Lake District.

Ilkley Harriers took full men’s and ladies’ teams and recorded excellent results.

Nick Pearce took the V60 prize after also winning his age category the previous day in the Snowdon International Mountain Race. Jann Smith was second F45, closely followed by Alison Weston who, was third in the same category. Dan Wilkinson was closest to the men’s open points scoring places, finishing just outside the top 50 in 57th overall.

As well as Pearce’s success at Snowdon, Tom Adams and Georgia Malir also achieved great runs in the uphill-only Super Cup Race. Tom Adams finished third overall and Georgia Malir was sixth lady and second FU23 at the age of 18.
