LAST Sunday saw strong performances from three Ilkley CC riders in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 50m time trial on the A19 at Dishforth.

On a fast day with little wind, Ewan Farrow set a new senior men's club record with a time of 1:47:59.

Doug Hart continued his run of good results, setting a new veteran men's record of 1:49:44.

The popular event and strong field saw Farrow finish 10th, with Hart in 12th place.

Ilkley's David Leckenby finished 42nd with a time of 1:59:58. The winner was Andy Jackson of Team Swift in 1:41:16. Ilkley finished third in the team event.

Earlier in the week the club held another 10-mile time trial on the Addingham / Bolton Abbey course. Despite having to stop for a slipped chain Hart rode strongly to claim first place in a time of 26.10.

A good number of Ilkley riders competed in last Thursday’s North Yorkshire Road Race League event near York.

A group of three riders escaped the bunch and held on to contest the hill finish with the bunch chasing hard.

As the bunch approach the final few miles to the finishing hill Richard Kelt attacked and held a small lead leading onto the hill.

As the hill steepened to around 1:6 he was caught, but a strong finish by Ian Cliffe saw him take his first top ten placing in a road race. Another noticeable ride was John Garnett, competing in his first road race, finishing well in the bunch with Mike Firth, Arthur Wilson, Richard Kelt and Giles Dumont.
