SCOTT Thwaites has missed out on a ride in this year's Tour de France which will pass through his home town of Burley-in-Wharfedale.
The 24-year-old has only been named as a reserve for the German outfit NetApp Endura.
It means there will be no Yorkshire riders in the world's greatest cycle race when it starts in Leeds next Saturday.
Thwaites, who has been selected by England for the Commonwealth Games road race next month, is due to compete in the National Road Race Championships in Monmouthshire on Sunday.
His absence from the Tour de France also opens the door to prospect of him appearing in Wednesday's Otley Men's Grand Prix, a race he won in 2011 and 2012.
The NetApp Endura team: Jan Barta (29 / Cze), David de la Cruz (25 / Esp), Zak Dempster (26 / Aus), Bartosz Huzarski (33 / Pol),
Leopold Koenig (26 / Cze), Tiago Machado (28 / Por),
Jose Mendes (29 / Por), Andreas Schillinger (30 / Ger),
Paul Voss (28 / Ger). Reserve: Iker Camano (35 / Esp), Scott Thwaites (24 / GB)
