OTLEY AC put out two ladies teams in the Yorkshire VAA road relays based at Roberts Park, Saltaire, and covering 2.9-mile circuit.

Having opted to divide the teams in to V35 and V40 it turned out that both were entered under V35.

Team A was Hannah Mallinson and Lisa Maughan who had agreed to run two legs, while the B-team was Joanna Hobson, Sara Richard and Julie Dorling.

The A-team came 14th with Hannah recording 23:04 and Lisa 22:15 and 22:22; while for the B-team Joanna was 23:28, Sara 22:32 and Julie-23:10 to finish 15th.

In the Pudsey 10k, Graham Lake finished 10th in 40:14 and Sara Richard 270th in 1:00:41.

Graham said: "A hot day in Pudsey, but good organisation, and a great setting in the park with lots for family and supporters to do.

"Bit of a last minute decision to race, and I’d not even heard of it before, so wasn’t sure what to expect, except, everyone I spoke to at the start shook their heads and said it was a tough course."

The race won by Tesfaye Debele (Leeds City) in 34:45 and the first lady was Myra Jones (Valley Striders) in 36th place overall in 43:34.

In the Three Lakes Classic 15-mile trail race at Sheffield's Rother Valley Country Park Tom Potter finished in 20th in 1:50:45 to knock just less than five minutes off last year's time, and around 20 minutes on 2011.

He said: "I cannot find enough superlatives to sum this race up. It is not my favoured terrain, distance or location but this really is a must run race and ranks amongst my favourite races to date.

"It costs £5 to enter and the course is beautiful and well marshalled; and once you have finished you are rewarded with as much cake and tea as you can devour.

"And as well as this you receive a finisher's goodie bag which includes a commemorative mug."

The race was won by Gareth Lowe (Clowne RR) in 1:31:01 and the first lady in 28th place overall was Liz Woods (Totley AC) in 1:53:13.
