The Brownlees will be competing against themselves in a small way when the BT Sport Industry Awards are announced at a star studded ceremony in London on Thursday, May 8.

The Brownlee Tri has been nominated in the Participation Event of the Year, sponsored by Robertson Taylor W&P Longreach, but so has the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final.

Both Jonathan and Alistair took part in that event last year, with Jonathan coming second.

Other events shortlisted in the category are the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, the Prudential RideLondon and the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and Ultra 2013.

The official shortlist was selected through an extensive steering process involving 50 key industry figures and more than 60 hours of intensive judging, fully overseen by Deloitte, the awards’ official independent scrutineers.

The shortlist will now go to the main judging panel, who will decide the winners.

Following on from the success of the inaugural Brownlee Tri, Olympic and world champion brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee have announced that registration is open for their North and South triathlons this year.

They also revealed that the two new iconic host venues for 2014 will be and Harewood House, near Leeds.

Brownlee Tri South will take place on June 15, hosted by iconic National Trust property Petworth House and Park in West Sussex, while on September 21 the Brownlee Tri North will take place at Harewood House, near Leeds.

Close to where the brothers grew up and now live, and also where they have trained before, Harewood House provides not only a stunning setting, but the opportunity for entrants to ride the same roads that the Tour de France will race on earlier in the summer.

David Lascelles, Earl of Harewood, said: “I’m delighted that Jonny and Alistair Brownlee are coming to Harewood for the Brownlee Tri.

“People have swum in the lake and run and cycled round the estate before, but I’d be pretty sure that they’ve never done it as fast as the Brownlees!

“This is a first for us, but not for them - they’ve trained here for many years. I hope everyone enjoys the day.

“It is a great challenge for the competitors and a wonderful way for spectators to enjoy Harewood.”
