Georgia Malir recorded another excellent result at the Northern Cross Country Championships at Knowsley Safari Park, Liverpool.
The Ilkley athlete finished second in the junior women’s race to Katy Wood of City of York AC, over 30 seconds clear of the chasing trio of Amelia Pettitt, Caroline Lambert and Abbie Hetherington.
Dave Wilby finished 147th in a high-quality men’s race, which included Olympic triathlon bronz medal winner Jonny Brownlee who was 21st.
Will Buckton also made the top half of the field, closely followed by his Ilkley Harriers colleague Stephen Coy.
Cross Country captain Julie Elmes represented Ilkley in the senior women’s race, and she recorded a competitive time of 49:23.

This weekend sees the return of the annual Rombalds Stride Winter Challenge, a 23 mile route over Baildon Moor, Burley Moor, Ilkley Moor and Otley Chevin.
Dave Wilby took second last year and the entry list includes many of Ilkley’s regular fell runners.
