Ilkley Harriers’ Sally Morley rounded off an outstanding West Yorkshire Cross Coun- try League campaign at Nunroyd Park.

Morley finished eighth and with Sally Malir and Kate Archer finishing in the top half of the field, Ilkley came sixth on the day in the team event – the same position they held in the overall standings.

Morley’s battling perform- ance meant she finished as the league’s first LV40 runner after being the top finisher in her age group in each of the three races she took part in.

In the men’s race, Jim Ryder was again first Harrier to finish, after a close battle with the improving Steve Coy. Ilkley’s men were 13th team on the day and seventh overall.

The junior Harriers also put in some fine performances.

Max Bradley had yet another great run coming in third in the under-11 boys‘ race.

His efforts helped the under-11 boys to win the day’s team event and come second in the overall standings.

Catherine Westhead was similarly placed in the under-11 girls race and helped her team to second place on the day and the overall silver medal.

Euan Brennan was third as the under-13 boys came fourth on the day.

The under-13 girls were fourth with Bethan Morley their best finisher in sixth position.

Sarah Pickering was the first of the under-15 girls home in sixth position as the team claimed third place.

Individually Ilkley had five juniors achieve top-six fin- ishes overall.

Max Bradley was second in the under-11 boys and Lucy Willamson achieved a similar position in the under-17 girls.

Euan Brennan was third in the under-13 boys while Catherine Westhead was fourth in the under-11 girls and Sarah Pickering came fourth in the under-15s.
