MARION Ridgway has been selected for the England Rugby North's junior academy programme.
The Year 10 student at Prince Henry's Grammar School, Otley, ill be training and playing with under-15 girls from across the North of England, on the England Rugby player pathway.
Marion plays and trains at West Park Rugby every weekend and captains Prince Henry’s under-15 girls’ team.
She also coaches younger players and is an ambassador for girls’ rugby in the school, recruiting players from across all years to develop the sport.
A talented sportswoman, she also plays for the school’s under-15 A netball squad.
“We are very proud of Marion. She works incredibly hard at her rugby and this is a well-deserved selection," said Dean Hyam, area leader of Prince Henry's PE faculty.
"I fully expect her to go right to the top of the sport, as she has the grit, determination and talent to succeed.”
The PE faculty at Prince Henry’s has a wide range of female students who are performing at the top of their sports, including representatives in swimming, netball, rugby, football, skiing, sailing, canoeing, horse riding, hockey, cross country, athletics, cycling, gymnastics and water polo.
