Away tie for Ilkley in Yorkshire Shield
There are away ties for both Ilkley and Yarnbury in the first round of the Yorkshire RU Shield Competition to be played on or before October 18.
The draw is: Castleford v Doncaster Phoenix, Moortown v Malton & Norton, Guisborough v Ripon, Sandal v Acklam, York v Old Brodleians, Huddersfield YMCA v West Leeds, Pocklington v Yarnbury, Wheatley Hills v Keighley, Goole v Bridlington, Heath v Sheffield, Leodiensians v Bradford Salem, Skipton v Hullensians, Selby v Ilkley, Redcar v Dinnington, Knottingley v Barnsley, Scarborough v North Ribblesdale.
The second round will be played on or before November 22.
Yorkshire, holders of the RU County Championships Bill Beaumont Cup, will start their defence with a home game against Shield winners Northumberland when next year's competition begins on May 9, 2009.
The White Rose side comfortably defeated reigning champions Devon at Twickenham in this season's final with a host of Otley players in the team, while Northumberland also enjoyed Twickenham success when they beat Cornwall to add the Shield trophy to their promotion to the top flight.
Cheshire, relegated from the Cup, open their Shield programme with a visit to promoted Leicestershire, while Cumbria have a first-day home assignment against North Midlands.
Durham, relegated last season after losing their final game to Cumbria, begin their County Championship Plate campaign with a home game against Notts, Lincs & Derby on May 2.
