Ilkley scrum half Kirk Arundale helped Indonesia to finish third in the HSBC Asian 5 Nations Division Three in Kuala Lumpur.

Arundale, his country’s most-capped player, scored 12 points but could not save Indonesia from defeat in their opening game against Guam.

The 26-year-old scored a try as well as kicking two conversions and a penalty in Indonesia's 38-17 defeat.

That enabled him to take his personal points tally in the championship past the 100 mark.

The defeat left Indonesia playing off with Pakistan, who lost 34-5 to India, to avoid relegation.

It proved to be a scrappy match which Indonesia won 13-7 with Arundale adding a further three points to his personal tally with a penalty goal.

Arundale’s young Ilkley team mate Temour Ahmed was invited to play for Pakistan but had to decline due to his A Level studies at Ilkley Grammar School.
